iam not understanding....the last part of sentence......since the total time for travelling was X+5/60..........and if he had travelled in 60miles/hr, then the time = X/60......then hw to proceed....

Time for entire Trip with same speed = X/60

Time for variable speed = 5/30 + X-5/60 = 5+x/60

Percentage greater is:

x/60 (%) = (5+x)/60
(%) = (5+x)/60 * 60/x
(x%) = 5+x/x -----> this is the total percentage
x% = 5+x/x - 1
5/x

% = 5/x * 100 = 500/x%
