Does xy=x^2

Does xy=x^2 ??


1) xy=y^2
2) x^2 = y^2

shouldnt A be the answer. xy=y^2 is possible only when x=y and if x=y then xy=x^2.

am i missing something?

I think the Q should be is X=Y? Are you sure you got the Q correct.

xy = y^2 is also possible when y = 0 and x can take any value...

The questions is asking is xy=x^2

or x^2-xy =0

which means either x=0 or x=y?

from (a)
xy=y^2
xy-y^2=0

so y=0 or x=y Insufficient

from (b)
x^2=y^2

so + or -(x)=+or - (y) Insufficient

both (a) and (b) are together sufficient to answer the question because only when x=y the two equations will be true
