Hi Kaplan,

I have given Kaplan classroon CATs and got a score of 660,680,690,650...basically in 650-690 range.
I took the Ultimate Practice and got at 710.
Then i took a last Kaplan class room CAT and got a 660.

I am really scared and confused if i should appear for GMAT in a week with my target score being > 700

Please guide..
Are kaplan classroom CATs comparable to actual GMAT?

Thanks.

Hi newuser,

Some people report that our tests are a bit lower than normal, though in my experience they are fairly representative. However, it sounds like your results have been swinging around quite a bit.

Any test in which you have randomly selected problems will show at least slight variance between tests, a necessary consequence of each individual student facing more or fewer problems relating to their strengths or weaknesses.

However, when in doubt, I tend to trust higher practice-results more than the lower. Remember, the GMAT is the GMAT. On a practice test, you may find yourself distracted by a phone call; you might decide to take one early in the morning, or when you are bleary; you might take one on Saturday after an exhausting week of work. Your real test, however, will be at %100. You will be putting forth every ounce of your effort, and will be rested, relaxed, and well fed. As a result, it's probable that you'll see the high end of your performance range, and be happy with the result.

Best of luck, and keep up the good work!
