Why is AWA 5.5 only 76%?

Can someone please explain why 5.5 on AWA is only 76%? I thought 5.5 was high, but 76% seems very low.

5.5 is ur score and 76 is percentile score
The percentile ranking expresses the percentage of the test-taking population that receive scores below a particular score. Therefore, the higher the percentile ranking, the more competitive the score.
