720 (Q51,V35): Still Some Questions

by sujitmgmat » Sun Dec 16, 2007 7:43 pm
First of all, thanks to this wonderful site. I got all the information on preparation material from this site. There were several of the posts which had great information.

I took the GMAT last Friday and got 720. The Math part went well. I somehow panicked during the verbal part and lost concentration. Some new examinees were entering the center and that created distraction. However, I am myself to be blamed. One suggestion to those who caanot concentrate when their is surrounding noise: use the ear plugs. I started using them late and could never recover out of that one-time lapse in concentration.

My target was 750 since I have plans to apply for Executive MBA at the top 10 schools. Do you think I should retake the test? I am an Electrical Engineer with undergraduate from India. Did MS in the USA and have been working for the last 8.5 years. Dream school is Wharton. Though the average score of Executive MBA candidates is 700, I read that because of the huge pool of Indian candidates one (especially Indian Engineers) should target 750. Also, because of the big disparity between Math and Verbal sections, will the GMAT score go against me?

Your suggestions will be helpful.

Congrats sujitmgmat! What a great score. I think u can break the ice with this score itself. Is it required to appear for GMAT again? Depends on u! Hey this is my personal feeling ...
Correct me If I am wrong
