I took the first CAT in MGMAT. The difficulty level was much higher than any of the CAT tests I have taken so far, especially the quant section. I also made lot more mistakes than in other tests but somehow the scores reported contrasts with that of the individual scores.

TYPE SCORE ESTIMATED PERCENTILE RANK
Quantitative 45 77 %
Verbal 35 77 %
Total 660 86 %

I don't how cumulative percentile resulted in 86% or how the overall score is 660. Can someone clarify? Thanks.

As far as i know the cumulative percentile is not an average of the quant and verbal percentiles.

All the 3 percentiles are calculated with respect to scores of the all the people who take gmat. ( I think in the real test its calculated for the past 3 years )

As in, ur quant n verbal percentile is 77 which means that u did better than 77 % of the people in these sections
and ur over all percentile indicates u did better than 86 % of the people, in the total score.

Not all get the same scores in verbal n qunat hence the overall score will differ too.
