Hi all,

I've been studying mainly using Set of 8 MGMAT Guides (though I bought them from my friend who got them in 2009). So far they have been great, but I find myself needing an alternative guide for Word Translations. The MGMAT guide itself is not bad, since I understand the concepts. It is just that sometimes (especially for Rate and Work questions), I find myself at a standstill and don't know how to proceed. These are more for problem solving questions as I seem to do better for data sufficiency questions on this topic.

It would be great if anyone could recommend some good alternatives for this topic. I am pretty satisfied with MGMAT guides otherwise.

As a side question, is there much difference between books bought in 2009 and the ones that are on sale today?

Thanks so much!

There's a number of concepts in that book, so it's hard to pinpoint what would be most effective for you. For Rate & Work questions, your best bet is to become great at applying D = R x T, weighted averages (Total D/Total T), and breaking down complex word problems. I'd seek out harder R&W problems, and focus on those 3 skill areas.
