Hi all.

I am newbie to gmat. After going through some of pages in this site for first time.

today is my day 1 & just for curiosity i appeared for on line free gmat test.

and I scored Q10, V10. score 330.

I know that this test was done without a single word preparation but still

what do you guyz recommend, i should start gmat journey or forget it for ever.

thanks.

The scores prove that you have a lot of ground to cover, but, depending on your target score, you could possibly pull it through! However, you should probably invest in a GMAT course or enlist the help of a tutor. This would help you keep your prep structured and get the most of your prep materials.

Hi Lisa,

I had another of these (stupid?) questions to bug you. I have a PhD from a top 5 university and have been working for over 3 years as a researcher for a big corporation in the tech sector. I was thinking of getting an MBA so that I may be attractive for a managerial kind of role (think product lead, tech strategy, etc.). Do you think it makes sense for me to try for top 5 mba schools. Or is it a waste of time, money and effort? I currently have a decent 6 figure salary.

As for my credentials, my graduate school GPA was 4 while my undergrad was around 3.7. In the practice tests for GMAT, I am scoring around 750. BTW, if it matters, I am just a shade under 30.

thanks,
bovik

Bro,

I am of the opinion..if u r a reasearcher+Ph.d+MNC..u can't get 330 man..or u can't get 750...

See, that wordings are confused..That's what I felt when i read ur "story/Kahani".

Anyways..if u get 330..forget stanford/GMAT also!!

@Harsha...

Bhai, I am sad man..they way we take pain to share our little hard earned Gyan to one who really needs it May /May Not be used "efficiently ".

Now I am rethinking,If at all we shuld share any inputs...Anyways, that's always a"topic of debate". I just want to ask one thing, BTG offered 10 scholarships.. Tell me How many out of them are "contributing" still to BTG??

Bhai, world is a great place to Learn!!

@harsha,

Whether you are fake or not it doesnt matter, some people do get very low scores and do get discouraged. When I took my first prep with no preparation I scored 390. I did not git discouraged, in fact was very happy I did not get 200. I bought PR and after going through it I took another CAT and got 530. So there you go, just brushing up on basic concepts resulted in over 100 points improvement. However, after going through the book the second time and memorizing every single concept I took the CAT again and got 520. I realized that this is the limit of PR. So I bought resources that everyone recommends here, namely MGMAT 8 book set, and OG 3 book set. I havent taken the CAT since, because I am still going through the MGMAT books, there is a lot to learn! I would predict, however, that my scored has boomed another 100+ points because now I know how to aproach problems I could not solve before, not only that, now I can do them with a lightning speed. If you are scoring 400 or below, dont get discouraged, all it means you havent been practicing the concepts tested on the GMAT. Plus talking to my friends who are in B schools, aparently you can improve your score a great deal, even over 200 points! The difference betweeen the score you want and the score you are getting, is you!
