Scrap Paper

Does anyone have the latest information on scrap paper? Last I heard, it was going to be a dry erase board. Now I'm reading that it's a booklet, similar to those blue books for exams.

Also, for those of you who have taken the exam, how is the process? I am a scrap paper whore. I easily take up a whole sheet of paper for two quant problems. Are they liberal with the scrap paper or is it more a waste of time to constantly ask for new booklets?

I took the GMAT in 2005, prior to the scrap paper getting "scrapped". I hear that since the beginning of 2006, testers have been given dry erase boards. Here's an article from Manhattan GMAT that discusses this change:

NO MORE SCRAP-PAPER! INSTEAD THE TEST-TAKER WILL RECEIVE ERASABLE WHITE BOARDS, though it appears that NO ERASER is provided to the test-taker. To quote from www.mba.com: "The test administrator will provide you with a booklet of five (5) noteboards. If you fill up your noteboards during the test, please raise your hand; the administrator will collect the noteboards you have and give you replacements. You may not remove the noteboards from the testing room during or after the test and you must return them to the administrator after the test."

I really like having actual scrap paper to work with during my test--in fact, I developed a strategy for using scrap paper that allowed me to optimize my use of space. Hopefully, these dry erase boards aren't annoying to use...
