GMAT in a month

by minniepique » Wed Nov 19, 2014 4:58 am
Hi everyone,

I took a GMAT exam few days ago and to be honest I am not very much pleased with my result. I got 470 which is quite disappointing. I am fulltime student so I found studying for GMAT quite difficult to deal with because I am having so many other obligations beside GMAT. I was able to afford myself to study only 2-3h per day for a month before the exam, but was studying efficiently just GMAT only for ten or so days, when I could ignore all the other stuff I had to do for uni.

I would like to ask if anyone had similar experiencies and are there any chances for me to improve my score in 3-4 weeks? Are there any specific strategies or additional material that you would recommend? I would appreciate any piece of advice.

GMAT is a tough exam and I would recommend you to go fully prepared for the exam. There is no sense in taking the exam if you are not close to your target score. You can use the free official GMATPrep practice tests to gauge where you stand as you continue your preparation. Link: https://www.mba.com/global/the-gmat-exam ... tware.aspx

Other than that use the Official Guide to GMAT Review 2015 to practice on specific areas and topics that you are having difficulty with. There is plenty of other official GMAT content, but the key is to design a study plan based on your strengths and weaknesses.

Cheers,

Hi,

What is your target score? If you are really looking to improve your performance, just giving 2 hours in the one month you have may not be sufficient. We believe, if possible you should consider postponing giving GMAT by a few months (anywhere between 3 to 6). This would give you sufficient quality time to prepare well for GMAT.

However, we say above not with the intention of discouraging you. If you are really confident and have a strong belief in yourself, here's something you can try in the next 1 month which should help you improve on your score:

Give as many mock tests as possible in next one month. However, more than giving the mock test, it is critical that you spend enough time in analyzing your performance in the mock tests. Typically if you spend 2 hours on mock test, spend 5-6 hours in analyzing your performance in the same. Go through each and every question and look at them for as long as you want. You need to figure out a better, smarter and a faster way of doing the same question.

Take a note of all the points and then make sure you apply them in the next test. Keep doing this consistently and you will see your score going up.

In case, there are any specific queries, please do let us know and we would be happy to guide you.

Wish you the best for your gmat preparation.
