How to avoid stupid mistakes???

by gxj007 » Sat Sep 05, 2009 6:02 pm
Hi there-

So after studying for a few months and taking 6 practice tests I've observed that over 50% of the quant questions I've gotten incorrect have been due to stupid errors such as missing some detail in the question or missing detail in the statements for DS. I've also missed questions due to stupid math errors. This problem has been consistant and has not improved all at. Has anyone else had this same issue??? And does anyone have an advice on how to avoid these kind of stupid mistakes???

thanks!

I'll occasionally make dumb math errors as well.. my advice is to read each question carefully so that you know exactly what they are asking. Sometimes I'll sort of skim a question and end up calculating something other than the answer (ex. calculating how much a container is filled vs. how much more room is available). Also, write everything down that you can when working on a problem instead of trying to make a bunch of mental notes and write your math work down clearly... my crappy handwriting has messed me up before, haha. I wouldn't be too worried though, I'm sure you'll be on point during the actual test.
