taking test on 7/30, need advice please!

by karenmeow » Sat Jul 19, 2008 10:14 am
my test date is scheduled on 7/30, which only gives me another 1.5 weeks to study! on the last 2 gmat prep tests i took, i got:

7/11 - 650, 35V44Q (28 right out of 41, 20 right out of 37)
7/18 - 680, 38V45Q (31 right out of 41, 23 right out of 37)

on this last gmat prep test, in the quant section, i got 6 PS wrong, 8 DS wrong, in the verbal, 3 CR wrong, 3 RC wrong, 4 SC wrong

i am wondering if there is anything i could do in particular to help me take advantage of my last week of studying!!

also, is there any way to help increase my verbal score into the 40s??

please help! much appreciated! thank you

Hi Karen,

There could be a couple issues that could result in the same thing. For one, did you run out of time at the end? If you didn't finish or if you got rushed, you may need to work on pacing yourself.

Or, do you miss questions once they get over the 650 threshhold of difficultly level? If so, focus on very challenging questions. In our Veritas books, we have challenge questions at the end of each section. I would imagine most prep books have something similar.

The main thing is you should study each question you miss to understand what you are doing wrong. Then, at least there is one more topic you should get right when you see it on the test!

Best wishes,

Tatiana
