Good idea.

Most classroom courses "teach to the middle," which means they typically benefit the "average" student. So, if you're still struggling with the basics, you may be left behind in the classroom.

Many online courses (including ours) begin with the fundamentals and slowly take you through all of the GMAT-specific strategies to master the content. The advantage of online resources (and books for that matter) is that you can review them as often as you wish until you are ready to move onto the next concept.

Cheers,
Brent

Hi MsFelix,

I'd like to know a bit more about how you've been studying and your overall goals/timeline:

1) What is your goal score?
2) How long have you been studying?
3) What materials have you been using?
4) When do you plan to apply to Business School?

Business Schools don't care if you take the GMAT more than once, so while this score might be a bit surprising, it won't hurt you. You can also use the experience of facing the Official GMAT to your advantage and adjust your studies to better train you to face the GMAT again.

Hi MsFelix,

You're definitely on the right track, in terms of how to attack your prep from here. You'd be best served reviewing some of the basics before you truly dive into your GMAT prep, especially when it comes to test-taking strategies. Consider classes at places like Khan Academy, which many GMAT students turn to when they need to brush up on some of the basics.

Above all else, even though your first score isn't what you hoped, stay positive! An optimistic outlook will only help you as you dive further and further into your prep.

Best of luck!
Rich
