GMAT Preo CAT 1

by vik123 » Sat Jul 26, 2008 11:32 am
Hi,

I just gave my first GMAT prep CAT. I scored a 740. But I am surprised with the score given that I made 8 mistakes in Quant and 9 in Verbal. Is the scoring algorithm accurate?

Also I have given a lot of simulated paper tests (from OG 11 questions), and I usually made about 3-5 mistakes in verbal and 2-4 in Quant. So are the questions in GMAT prep CAT tougher than those in OG11.

As an aside are the questions in OG11 and OG10 different?

Yes the GMATPrep algorithm is accurate as it is the same algorithm used by the real GMAT as far as I know. In general, the questions from the OG11 are the same level of difficulty as the real test as they are old, retired questions that were once used in the exam.

The OG10 and OG11 are very similar I believe, but the OG11 may have newer questions that more closely resemble the questions you'll see today. Other than that, I believe the OG10 book has more questions than the OG11 book.
