Do you think it is good estimator overall. also how did u wrote kaplan with awa? how close u find kaplan scoring with actual gmat?

I bought the kaplan premiere book to get the online resource. I am not sure if you can buy the kaplan cats.
These scores are awesome. I think you are all set for the real test.
I took all my mocks with AWA. Make sure that you do the same, otherwise your mock scores can not be taken on the face value. You have to account for the one added hour of AWA. You can safely deduct 40 points if you took these tests without AWA.

Kaplan is pretty good for verbal, however quant of kaplan is not good.

RC is one of the toughest section to improve. RC skills can not be improved in a short span of time. I feel taking notes and ignoring details work for most of the people. Focus on the overall structure of the passage. Note-taking also helps becuase it forces you to think about the passage structure. For main idea questions, focus on the passage map. For inference and detail questions, always go back to passage to find the answer.

The most important thing, you should understand the meaning and purpose of the passage. If you can't answer why the passage was written, then you didn't comprehend it.
Thank you Sharma Ji. Good luck ahead!

compared to actual test, gmatprep and kaplan are pretty close in verbal. However, quant is a different story. If you are targeting 49+, then you should really do the gmatclub tests. They are really good.
kaplan and gmatprep quant is easier compared to the actual one. In my first attempt, i scored 48 because i ignored quant completely. dont do this mistake. actual quant is more difficult.

Congrats Sharmasumitn1,
on your fantastic improvement in verbal. I'm currently between 25 and 30 scaled score on my verbal and will like to adopt your approach on using Gmatprep SC and CR questions. Please how did you review the wrong answers after using the gmatprep verbal?. And i will be grateful if you give me a strategy on how to use the gmatprep verbal documents. Thanks as i await your reply.

Hi Sumit! Wonderful score - you are inspiring!

I checked gmatclub.com and had a tough time finding the CR / RC docs. Would you or someone mind posting to this thread?

Thanks!

Hi sumit,

congrats for your great score and your story is truly inspiring. I have one question, u said u used Chineseburned template right...i'm a bit confused regarding the start of the essay. What do u use...The argument claims or The author claims...???? Most of the time the argument is basically an add published in some magzine...so what should we use or both of above mentioned terms are correct???
Princeton Review CAT - 710(Q-51, V-37) --> silly mistakes screwed up my VERBAL

GMATPrep SC and CR docs are one of the best resources for verbal section. Use these docs when you have exhausted all other official resources. These questions should be done once you are already in good shape. You should comfortably answer most of the OG questions and ideally, your accuracy should be within 75-90%. After you attain such high accuracy, practice the GMATPrep questions. I can confidently say that, you will be able to score 750 on GMAT.

Manhattangmat has wonderful discussion for each of the GMATPrep question. So once you answer the question, google it. You will see detailed discussion on Manhattan site. This helped me a lot.

GMATPrep CR doc has some really tough questions. Spend a lot of time on each GMATPrep CR question. Analyze each question thoroughly. Understand the question stem in detail. Try to make it simpler. Use your own native language to make the question simpler. Then answer it. Make each answer choice simpler.

Don't worry about the accuracy. Focus on the process. If you can find a key to answer most of these questions, you will be good for GMAT. Believe me, GMATPrep CR doc has some highest difficulty level questions. So, even if you get them wrong, dont lose heart. I got many questions wrong.

Goto verbal section. Verbal section is divided in subsections.
Goto SC and CR subsection. There you will find these docs in sticky post by whiplash.

Dont worry about AWA so much. It is not that important. Don't spend your mental energy to make it perfect. Memorize the template, find assumptions, flaws, examples in the argument. Fill in these in template. For issue, try to come up with convincing points.

As far as beginnig is concerned, stick with "The argument claims", as it is generic statement.

hi,
this is my first post. My Gmat date is 22 Sep that means i am left with precisely 40 days. i have taken two test both the test( one Kaplan+ 01 Pearson) i got 560. My target is 700+ like most of us. I got 44 in Quant and 22 in Verbal. i have Manhattan books and lot of other stuff also with me. I have done Manhattan once but my SC is just not improving. I have some basic questions.

1. How can i improve my verbal, specially SC.what should be my strategy. How many question a day, which book..etc etc.

2.My CR is pretty OK as per OG stand..however i want to know that how can i get more tougher questions than OG. and is it required. Coz i have only 40 days that means at the max i have 120 hrs to improve some 200 marks???

3.Quant i have started with manhattan will be switching over to OG 10/11/12. Any other books fast to improve Quant.

4.one more question how much marks difference it will come if i go from 40 to 49 in quant in terms of total score marks ..any guess ( assuming m
y verbal remains the same that is 23 or so).

Thanks in anticipation
