Are any of the top 20 B-Schools in US known for a preference towards entrepreneurial experience? While I understand that entrepreneurial experience might be respected by all, are there any specific ones that provide it more weight such that it can make up for any other shortcoming in the applicant's profile?
Almost all schools love entrepreneurs for a variety of reasons:
1. They have shown that they possess the chutzpah to taken the "path less traveled".
2. They are usually type-A personalities who are driven, have focus, and high on energy/passion.
3. They have perhaps already covered most of the subjects in the MBA curriculum - finances, marketing, sales etc. So having an MBA from the School of Hard Knocks helps.
4. Turn out to be interesting people since they have diverse experience since they have gone out and done something.
.................I could go on.
So there are no schools which like entrepreneurs more than the others. What is more important is what you want out of the school. So make sure you pick the right school for it can give you: Typically - Network, and Brand Equity
