Not crossing 600 - 2 weeks left in GMAT - Help

by MTariq » Mon Feb 01, 2010 10:32 am
Hello,

I have been preparing for GMAT since last two months. and I did take a Kaplan course.
But in all the practice test my score is stuck between 530-580 and it is not going up.
Can any one suggests, what should I do more in these 2 weeks to atleast cross 600

Two weeks? Hmmm...well. What are your weaknesses? I think at this point it is late to attempt to make significant progress with CR and RC, so with verbal focus on Sentence Correction. Also, with quant, focus on Number properties and word translations.

Well I am weak in RC. I do well in sentence correction and RC but it is not also 100%
I think my main problem is, when I am doing the question I am fine.
but as soon as I start taking test, I get very nervous about time running out and if I dont get a question in first 10 questions, I get too freaked out.

since two weeks are too less time to try somethig new i wud suggest to spend more time on time management
even gems are falling on the day bcoz of this evil .In the left over days do some more tests and try to nte time mentally after every 10 q while revising check which q took your extra time revisit your notes and then create an approach to pace up.
apply in next test.do the same thing and apply in the next test.it will certainly help u handle time pressure on the day....dnt take any test on last 3 days just concentrate on your strength.it will help in creating +ve ness inside u
after mnths of prep its only how u handle the time pressure on test day

first, Kaplan tests are not reflective of the GMAT and have been known to give low scores. So, don't get perturbed. I would suggest you take a GMAT Prep CAT so that you will have a decent idea of where to stand You can build on from the results.

well I just posted my concerns here today because I did score upto 580 in Kaplan practice test but I scored 530 in Gmat Prep today.
I think I get very nervous at home too. God knows what will happen with me on test day.
I have to get over my anxieties :(

I just kept telling myself that I wouldn't allow fear to steal my moment. I had prepared for the test. I did all of the necessary steps to perform well, and I could accept not achieving my goals because I came up short, but it was unacceptable to come up short because of fear.

are u considering postponing the test date?

which intake are you looking for? If it's not this year, then you would be better off postponing the test.

I am going to apply this year. I wish I can postpone it.
but I have already post-poned it once to gain sometime.
and now as this time is approaching I am freaking out again.
I dont feel like postponing it again. just want to get done with it.
