I have been studying like crazy for the GMAT for the past 2 months straight, every day for minimum 4 hours a day. i started to burn out about 2 weeks ago, so I would not study more than 2.5 hours a day and take a day off here and there.
I hired a tutor to help me with my quant as I have not done anything math in about 15 years since high school. I was getting around 36Q on most of my pratice tests and like 99% verbal (can't remember exact numbers)
My practice tests were
free manhattan gmat - 530
mgmat 1 - 640
mgmat 2 - 590
mgmat 3- 660
mgmat 4 -650
GMAT PREP - 560
mgmat - 600
GMAT Prep - 690
mgmat 6 - 690
Actual test - 610 (Q39, V34)
I am utterly devastated. i need to get into a top 10 program to be taken seriously as a future employee as my career back ground is non traditional. By the end of my studies I was scoring 99% in verbal, so needless to say a 34 of quite shocking and upsetting. i have to say the verbal was much much much harder than anything i had seen or been provided by the GMAC. Which needless to say indicated to me that I was doing well. Which clearlly i wasn't. has anyone else experienced such an insanely difficult verbal like out of nowhere.
Also, the testing conditions were annoying, the people who worked there kept talking and i could hear them from inside of the testing center and had to tell them 2 times to quiet down. Also the stupid guy who worked here never saw me waving my dry erase board for a new one, which was incredibly frustrating, took time away from my test, one time i turned around and he wasn't even there?!?! I'm thinking of writing an email about the distraction the people there caused to my test. I know it wont change anything, but still, future test takers should not have to go through what i did.
anyway, i need advice on what to do now? i feel like i've exhausted my resources and done all the questions in OG 10 AND OG 11 and MGMAT word problems and MGMAT SC.
Should I take a class? Where can i get more verbal practice? Ugh i can't believe I have to do this all over again? I wanted to apply to R1 but now i'm not sure.
PLEASE HELP ME?
