Hi all,

I did my GMAT in August 2011 after 5 long months of prep and had a 740, but I am still not satisfied. I was unemployed at the time, and a recent graduate with a BBA Major Finance, Minor Managememt(4.00 GPA). I want to do an Msc degree, and am hungry for a 99%tile score. I now have a great job in sales - so not as much time to spare for studying - and will be looking to enroll sometime next year for a Master in Finance or Investment Management. Unfortunately, my finances are limited so a higher GMAT score will some in handy, and having a score just under 760 is hard to accept for my ego. My question is do you think I should be happy with my 740? Or should I let my ambition get the best of me and go for one more round?

I got a 730 and I'm retaking, but that is to offset a low GPA. If you have solid academic credentials, you'd be insane to retake a 740.

The GMAT is a tool for admissions committees to evaluate your candidacy. It's not a game. I'd advise to check your ego at the door, especially if it won't help you get into school in any tangible way. Besides, $250 a pop is no joke.
