Question regarding score sending strategy

by devdawgmba » Sun Jan 03, 2010 8:39 pm
Hello all,

I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light here for me.

(I've called AND emailed GMAC and they kept answering the wrong question)

I've taken the GMAT once, approximately 2 years ago. I'm taking the GMAT again in one week. I plan to send my score report to 5 target schools. I understand these 5 target schools will see the new score (GMAT#2), as well as historic scores from up to 5 years ago... (GMAT#1).

My question is...

What if I don't do as well as I'd like, and decide take the GMAT a 3rd time, say in two months. When the exam initially prompts you to select 5 schools to send score reports to, lets say I don't select any. Once I'm done with the test... let's say my score improves - so naturally I decide which schools to send to (granted I pay $28 or whatever the fee is, per school).

BUT

What if my score drops? If I don't send a score report after GMAT#3, will the target schools I initially sent scores to (after GMAT#2) have the ability to view or access my 3rd exam score???

I hope I'm explaining my question correctly. The folks at GMAC couldn't seem to get their head wrapped around it :-( and I can't find the answer anywhere online.

Thanks in advance!

I think the schools will be able to see every gmat score that you have for a 5 year period. Its all electronic so sending them your score is really just having gmac give them electronic access to your profile which will contain all of your scores on record.
