Is doing Kaplan before OG a good idea?

by iafmaverick » Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:02 pm
Hi Guys,

I took my first diagnostic today on the Kaptest site.

The outcome is: 620 Q-40 V-37

I made some really elementary errors in the quant section, but am confident of not repeating it in the coming tests.

Toughest section for me was the RC.

Am planning to brush up on the RC and SC parts from Kaplan over the next 2 days and take the 1st GMATPrep on day 3.

Im currently travelling and only carrying Kaplan with me. Will be a month till I get home.

Im planning to finish Kaplan before starting with OG. Would that be a good idea in terms of strategy?

I think that is a good idea. The OG doesn't really teach you the tricks and strategies that you need to truly do well. The place to get these is from a prep guide. After you've studied a bit and you're confident in your abilities, try applying those strategies to problems in the OG. Just remember: the explanations in the OG aren't necessarily the best/easiest way to do things!
