Online Class

by bizzzschool » Thu Jan 22, 2009 8:16 am
Hi,

I have a 3.2 GPA undergrad from UW-Madison in Economics (did well in advanced math classes). I received all A's, B's and a couple of C's. However, I got a D in accounting. Therefore, I was thinking about re-taking an accounting class in order to improve my grade before applying to Business School for 2010. I will also give the reason of why I received the grade I did the first time around in my application.

GMAT: V36/78%, Q45/75%, T660/83% (Going to take once more)

I have 3 years of good work experience, have started my own company, volunteered abroad, am involved on the board of non-profit organizations in the community and do other volunteer work.

My question is if I take an Undergrad Intro to financial Accounting (101) class to cover up my grade, do you think I would be OK doing the class online in a program such as this?

Taking an online class would help, as I have a full time job and getting to class some days could be challenging. Also, there is a cost benefit with an online class. Since I am just trying to show that I can do better in the class, would something like this be acceptable? Would it matter what online program I did? Would an in-person class be better?

Thank you for the help!

Hi B,
I think its totally fine to take the class online. And in the optional essay of your applications, make sure you explain the low score in UG and also why you took the online class. You should be in good shape!

Let us know if you have any other questions. Good luck!
