650 [Q48, V31] in retake with dismal score of 2 in IR

Hi,

I just retook my GMAT today and was disappointed

GMAT take 1 (on 11th August'14) : 580 [49Q, 21V, 6-IR and 5 AWA]

GMAT take 2 (4th Nov'14) : 650 [48Q, 31V and 2 -IR]

I want to understand with such dismal score of 2 in IR, will any b-school consider my application who other-wise consider students with a score of 650?

I don't think you should worry about IR score as none of the universities pays attention to IR score during application.

Hi philopank,

First off, a 650 is a solid score (it's right around the 80th percentile) - it's also a clear improvement over your prior performance. When you say that you're "disappointed", is this only because of your IR score?

If so, then you should know that many Business Schools have publicly stated that the IR score is not a current factor in their respective review processes of applicants. While IR might become a bigger factor in the future, right now it's essentially a non-factor.

What Business Schools are you planning to apply to? And when?

I am dissapointed by both 650 and IR2 as I was expecting much better performance than this..

A bit about my profile

Undergrad : BTech in Production and Industrial Engg. from NIT Allahabad, India
Undergrap CGPA : 9.4/10
Professional : 5.5 years of experience in Sourcing and Supply Chain Management working with a leading Indian Automobile company.

Extra Currics : Headed Creative Team for 2.5 yrs, Lead Coordinator for Training and Placement Offc, Chief Editor for Insitute Year Book, Member of Core Team for Institute Knowlege and Technical Festivals.

Work : Green Packaging Implementation, 3PL, Bill to Ship to system, Optimization of existing supply chain, developed vendor with state of the art facilities - These are key achievements apart from Key roles and responsibilities.

Area of Interest : Graphics Designing, Exploring Indie Music.....

My target schools - ISB, NUS

I would be glab if you could guide me on which other schools should I apply to based on my Gmat score and profile.

Hi Pankaj,

Your questions are probably better answered by an Admissions Expert, so you should try posting in that Forum (on this site).

When it comes to deciding on which Business Schools to apply to, you need to define a number of factors, including the specific career path you want to be on, what you are willing to spend, the amount of time that you want to invest, if you want to go to school AND keep working, if you're willing to re-locate, etc. Those variables should help you to research the schools that best match what YOU are looking for (instead of just asking "where can I get in?")

You say that you were expecting a better performance on Test Day, but what exactly were you expecting? How were you scoring on your practice CATs?
