690(48Q/35V)- feel disappointed

by sirisha.g » Mon Aug 30, 2010 5:55 pm
hi all,

I took my GMAT yesterday and this was the first time took it. i got a 690. 48 in quant and 35 in verbal. I am very disappointed with my quant score. I was really very confident in it. I was not very sure of verbal because my scores kept fluctuating in it. I was expecting in 30's itself.

What went wrong with Quant:
1) over confidence i guess
2) problems were just like OG to which i payed little attention
3) i slowed down at couple of places that made me nervous and had to rush through a few questions

Not sure if i should use these scores or write again. Please advice. This is my profile.

Have 2 years of work-ex in automobile industry(designing department)
Finished my industrial engineering in 2008.
Interested in operations management.

sirisha, I think that's actually a very respectable score, and probably won't keep you out of anywhere!

I understand that it's a personal thing, and that you feel like you could have done better. IMHO, your quant is great. I would apply with this. The rest of your app. process is going to keep you insanely busy.

A higher score might only make a marginal difference. It will have more impact if you can get your essays, recs perfect.

My advice, don't retake without applying first.
