What programs should I consider?

by DFritschy » Mon Aug 13, 2012 5:24 pm
I could really use some school suggestions...leaning towards mostly online degree or something local in tri-state where GPA requirements aren't too high. Could someone please suggest some online programs as I travel constantly? Profile is highlighted below, thank you!

* 3.0 GPA, Biochemistry
* 1.5 years chemist, 5 years sales/business across pharmaceutical and personal care industry
* Sales, marketing, recent and current management experience, global team coordination, routine national travel
* Current sales territory $8 million; 1.7 billion dollar public company. 50% travel across the US and Canada
* GMAT not taken yet, scheduled for August 30th (only hitting around 560 on practice test now so over 600 not extremely likely but I really don't want to put the program off)

Reason why I'm going for my MBA:
* I want an advanced role in management within 5 years and many companies in my industry are requiring MBA's
* I probably don't need an MBA with my current company (even for higher management roles) and I plan on staying here, but it's backup incase we're ever bought or the organization changes
* I've also thought about starting my own company down the line; I'm hoping this program will also give me the knowledge to be successful

MBA Program expectation:
* AACSB accredited, generally accepted as a decent school
* Focus on management, entrepreneurship, or global business
* Due to travel, most likely seeking an online program - routine physical classes would be EXTREMELY difficult for me
* Only school I have thought of is the University of Florida online MBA (Warrington)

Hi DFritschy,

I am also looking for an online school with a good MBA program. As I posted in another thread, I just recently heard and watched a quick little presentation on a school called Full sail University and I'm doing some research on it and learning more about it. I'm not sure they have the program you're looking for, but, it doesn't hurt to try. I've also heard of Pepperdine and University of Phoenix (which I think it's expensive). Are you looking mainly for people who have already gone to school for their MBA or just good old word of mouth?

Hi, I am also a prospective applicant currently researching B-Schools. I have attended a couple of Admission events of business schools in my area and written about my experiences here. Hope this may help in making some decision.
