Hello

Is there an advantage to taking the GMAT only once and getting a 700 over taking the GMAT twice, first having gotten a 590 and then a 700?

Hello,

I really don’t think so. I can’t imagine it making a material difference, for example an adcom person saying or thinking, “Well, I’d like to consider this applicant but look at that first GMAT.” It would never affect a decision, I believe. You earned the 700 – anyone can have a bad day, or be ill prepared, or have a case of nerves for the 590. But you can’t just “luck out” and get a 700, you have to actually earn it. It reflects your ability, whereas the 590 could reflect numerous things other than your ability.
