Hi,

So here is my situation:

Profile:
GMAT: 700
GPA: 3.5
Work Experience: 4 years at a Big 4 Consulting Firm
Good ECs and leadership experience

I was waitlisted last year, and they have provided me the following feedback:

Pros:
1. Interview went almost perfect - interviewer was impressed
2. Recommendation were great
3. Decent grades and average score

Cons:
1. Below Average essay - with grammatical errors
2. Had only 3 years of work experience last year - much below average

New Situation:
1. Got on couple of leadership programs at work - Chair, Consultant Body and President, Innovative ThinkTank
2. VP of IFA (International Tax Association)

Could you please let me know on how I should approach my reapplication? Should I use Admission Consultants to help me on drafting the application and if so, what package I should be using based on my situation?

What else could I do to improve my chances?

Hi,

Thanks for your post. It appears you were able to get some sound feedback on your application from last year. Given the information you've shared, it sounds like a combination of lack of work experience (as compared to the average amount for admitted students) and essays were your weak points.

Putting together solid essays this year is critical to your success. The adcom needs to be able to truly understand why you are seeking an MBA at this point in your career, and specifically why a part time program suits your needs, especially given that most candidates of your experience level apply to full time programs. You'll not only want to choose appropriate topics to stand out in the applicant pool, but you will also want to pay particular attention to the details since this was specifically pointed out to you as a concern.

Lastly, be sure to focus your time an attention on the application data forms as well. Many times candidates rush through these and miss important details or have typos and other errors which leave a bad impression on the adcom. Attention to detail is a critical factor in admissions decisions.

Please feel free to send your resume to [email protected] to learn more about your candidacy and see if Clear Admit can help you with your reapplication.

Best,

Stacey
