Interpretation of test result

Hello,
I have a question regarding the test results. When all you mention your score you also give the number for Quant and Verbal ie. 670 (44Q, 38V).

What do these numbers 44Q, 38V mean and how they are calculated? I would be very grateful if someone could shed more light on this subject, because I am completely lost...

When you take the GMAT, you receive several scores. One is a quantitative score between 0 and 60, and another is a verbal score between 0 and 60. Don't spend any time analyzing these numbers, since they don't correspond to most scoring conventions. For example, a verbal score of 40, doesn't mean that you answered 2/3 of the questions correctly, and a score of 40 is not a bad score. In fact, a verbal score of 40 is in the 90th percentile of test-takers.

Your Total score (between 200 and 800) is based on your results on your Verbal and Quantitative scores, and this is the score that you're probably most familiar with.
