Hi aspirant2011!
Isn't declared and prompted in choice D parallel? ....of Segovia to be a Heritage of Humanity - The "to be" is an idiomatic problem

Choice E is correct but I am not sure on the clarity of the meaning. How is "prompting" connected to United Nations declaring something?? Shouldn't "declared" and "prompted" be parallel structures? are these independent events?

Thanks,
B

D seems to mean that United States prompted Spanish govt to begin renovations but the meaning should be that once it was allotted a designation of Heritage, the same prompted Spanish govt To make renovations.

A) can be eliminated because it seems that the aqueduct is a Heritage of Humanity in 1985 only

B) From the original sentence we can determine that the Spanish government begun the renovation because the United States declared the Roman aqueduct to be a Heritage of Humanity. B) change this meaning because the renovation seems to be initiated because of the deterioration. So B) can be eliminated

C) can be eliminated because "which" after the comma modifies Segovia instead of the aqueduct

D) can be eliminated because it change the original meaning of the sentence: the United States in the original sentence did not prompt to Spanish government to begin renovations

Any comments is welcome.
