Is the number of members of Club X greater than the number of members of Club Y?

1. Of the members of Club X, 20% are also members of Club Y

2. Of the members of Club Y, 30% are also members of Club X

C
Rephrase: x > y

1 & 2 individually are not sufficient.

Both
20% X = 30% Y

Solving we get, x = 15/10 Y. We can conclude that X > y

Right - there are 3 categories. X alone, Y alone and both X and Y.

It's a standard venn diagram, if visualizing it makes sense to you.

Statement 1 provides the number of Both (B) relative to X and Statement 2 provides the number of B relative to Y.

You can then compare to find the relationship between X and Y.
