Since post-MBA salaries are a factor in so many of the rankings, b-schools probably want to have graduates receive the highest salary offers possible.
But how do they calculate salary for an entrepreneur? What if the graduate takes a very modest salary, let's say $30k for a year or two, do they still count that or is that considered irrelevant for the ranking calculation because the graduate is self-employed and it doesn't reflect how much "employers & recruiters" are willing to pay for that school's fresh graduates?
Would they treat somebody going into her family's business the same way if, let's say, she is going to be paid $500k/yr by her father's business (and she was a consultant making only $75k before)? Or will that too be considered "a non-employer salary" and not be factored into the average salary figures that are considered for the rankings?
