VERY IMPORTANT POST

by transfer9858 » Mon Apr 16, 2012 1:09 pm
Hi Everyone-

I wanted to share something that I thought could really help people. I am taking the Gmat in 3 days and only today did this happen. Just last week ago, I took a gmat prep 1 and got a 630, 43 math and 35 verbal. I thought my timing was great and finished both sections on time. Today on gmat prep 2- quant I focused heavily on the first part of the test- 1- 20's- making sure I got most of them right. It took me much longer and I actually ran out of time and HAD TO GUESS BLINDLY ON THE LAST 5 AND GOT ALL OF THEM WRONG!!!. Guess what my quant score was ? 48!!!!! This was with making about 3 carless errors in the first 20 and instead of picking all D for ex for the last 5 i picked all different based on gut which was stupid, especially for problem solving ones. However, thats a 5 point increase in a week!. There have been hundreds of posts saying that the first ones don't count more- I don't know the algorithm and I don't know why, but i can ignore that this boosted me up so much. I am not saying spend 5 minutes on a question but it can't hurt to try this method out and see if it helps you. It may be just a fluke that I got a 48 but it has given me confidence to hopefully hit a 46/47 on the test which really helps. Thanks a lot again for everyones help!
