I agree that E appears to be the best answer here, but then in E "it" has no clear referant. "It" could be for "Giantwingocoatlus" or for "wingspan".

What's your take ?

Logically speaking, yes. But, I have seen answer choices, which were marked incorrect because the pronoun would refer to multiple antecedents, even though logically it would refer to only one.
