Twenty-seven persons attend a party. Which one of the following statements can never be true?


(1)There is a person in the party who is acquainted with all the twenty-six others
(2)Each person in the party has a different number of acquaintances
(3)There is a person in the party who has an odd number of acquaintances
(4)In the party, the is no set of three mutual acquaintances

Can you tell me how you arrived at the answer?
I tried solving the question but in no vain.Ultimately,I used hit and trial.Is there any formal method of solving the question?
Can we use elimination techniques as shortcut to solve the question quickly??

2) IMO, I assume acquaintance is mutual and we just do not have enough numbers to have different number of acquaintances
