"Unscrambling the code"

When rephrasing data sufficiency questions, I have read advice to keep laundry list of "unscramble the code codes"--which are phrases in the question stem which I should recognize and be familiar with so that I don't waste time unpacking them on the exam. Does anyone have a list of phrases they've ever kept of these?

Hi lutp44,

Much of the work that you're describing is NOT a waste of time - it's 'steps' that you'll end up doing on most Quant questions - note taking, labeling, simplifying equations, etc. While working through the entire Quant section on Test Day might seem challenging, 75 minutes IS enough time to deal with it, but NOT if you're not taking notes, if you keep rereading and rereading prompts, if you try to do lots of work 'in your head', etc.

As you come across 'layered' DS prompts, you should post them in the Forum here - you'll likely receive lots of useful advice/tips/etc. from the Experts and other site users.
