If the price of gasoline increases by 25% and Ron intends to spend only 15% more on gasoline, by what % should he reduce the quantity of petrol that he buys?

A. 10%
B. 12.5%

Ron wants to spend 1.15

1.25->1
1.15

1/1.25*1.15 = 23/25

23/25*100 = 92%

%decrease = 8

IMO C

Initially 1 unit price * 1 unit consumption = 1 unit expenditure

now 1.25 * x = 1.15 resp units

so x = 1.15/1.25 = 23/25

reduction = 2/25 = 8%

Use the percent decrease and increase formula.

% decrease: (X1-X2)/X1*100 = (1.25-1.15)/1.25 *100 = (0.1/1.25)*100=8%
