geometry - halfway

Hi there,

I woud like your input about this difficult geometry question. Someone can explain to me in simple way the concept. Sorry, I don't know the answer. LOOK at the attachment

On the number line shown, is zero halfway between, r and s ?

(1) s is to the right of zero.
(2) The distance between t and r is the same as the distance between t and -s.

Its basically an modulus (number line) question.

using 2: dist between t and r = dist between t ans -s
or |t-r| = |t+s|
case I: t-r = t+s =>r+s = 0 or r = -s so if s is positive r is negative and vice versa. if r = -5 s = 5 , here will be number line:
------|-----------|------
-5 5

for r = -5 s = 5 so 0 will be halfway between r and s


case II: t-r = -(t+s) => t-r = -t-s => 2t = r-s or t = 1/2(r-s)
I m not sure how to proceed with this case though..
