Circular Tub

A circular tub has a band painted around its circumference. *width of band = x* What is the surface area of this painted band?

(1) x= 0.5
(2) The height of the tub is 1 meter

Data sufficiency answer choices

OA E

Volume of cylinder = πr²h

the answer of this question is E as the radius is not known.

As for solving the question,the surface area formula is (2Ï€r)x(x) [Circumference x Width of the band]

If the test-taker is in haste he can mistake that both the variables r and x are provided in the question.
On first glance ,it seemed to be that 2 statements are given ,
hence the surface area would be 2xπx0.5x1.
After looking for the 2nd time carefully,I was able to point out that there was no use of the "height of the tub".
Hence,answer would be E.

It means that initially maybe the problem was posted in the PROBLEM SOLVING or the GMAT Verbal forum.
Papgust perhaps saw it and being a moderator moved the question to the DATA SUFFICIENCY folder.
This way,if I want to specifically practice PS question and supposedly I ran into this question ,I would have ended up wasting my time.It is beneficial this way that questions are moved to the appropriate destination folder.

I think that was what Papgust was trying to imply.

thanks for pointing out my mistake if u thought so, but I wrote the volume formula for the cylinder because money9111 had asked for it (I don't know why he was asking), as for the solution of the question I know the answer is E and the question is from OG.
