Paper test Confusing question.

by rakeshd347 » Fri Sep 13, 2013 10:45 pm
The employees of Smith Enterprises received wage increases ranging from 30 cents to 87cents per hour. What was the minimum wage increase for a 40-hour week?

(A) $12.00
(B) $23.00
(C) $34.80
(D) $35.00
(E) $35.20

OA is D

But I got the answer as A. I think I am missing something. Its a ETS paper test question from gmatprep official source itself. Test code 48 question number 2.

Hi Rakesh, I sense a typo in the question.
Going with the details of the question, for a 40-hour week, the minimum and maximum wages will be $12.00 and $34.80 respectively.

Hence, if "MINIMUM" wage increase is asked then answer should be $12.00 (Option A) and if "MAXIMUM" wage increase is asked, then answer should be $34.80 (Option C)

This question has been discussed many times on this forum. There is a typo, and the correct answer is, indeed, A.

($0.30/hour)(40 hours) = $12.00 = A

Cheers,
