Decoding the following:Twice as much x as y

by dhonu121 » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:38 am
Hi,
Offlately, I am coming across such language in PS as well as DS question stems which I am unable to decipher.
What is meant by this statement.
In 2004 x was equal to y and in 2005 there was twice as much x as y.
Does this mean that in 2005:
x=2y or 2x=y.
I am not able to get this.
Can someone please clear this mess in my head.

Thanks.

This can be rephrased as "x was twice as much as y"
so the equation should be "x = 2y"
