by LMK27 » Sun Jan 31, 2010 6:57 pm
A rectangular wooden crate has inside dimensions of 3 meters by 4 meters by 12 meters. What is the length, in meters, of the longest, straight, inflexible rod of negligible diameter that can be placed completely within the crate?

A) 12
B) 12.6
C) 13
D) 19
E) 24

I am having the hardest time figuring out why the answer is what it is...can anyone shed some light? PLEASE!! Thank u!
