305. For many travelers, charter vacations often turn out to cost considerably more than they originally seemed.
(A) they originally seemed
(B) they originally seem to
(C) they seemingly would cost originally
(D) it seemed originally
(E) it originally seemed they would

I'm not sure why A is a better option that B. Please explain.

C is unnecessary long

Between A and B. I believe that latter part to be in past tense.

B is incorrect for 2 reasons
1>'to' is redundant over here. It can be assumed "they originally seem(to).
2>Past tense(seemed) is correct over here rather than present 'seem' as the activity happened in past.
