Pure rearranging of terms should help.
z = (x+y) / 2 ---- first eqn
z + x = 2w
x-w = w-z
x-w = w- (x+y)/2
x-w = 1/2(w-x) + 1/2(w-y)
3/2(x-w) = 1/2(w-y)
(x-w) / (w-y) = 1/3
z = (x+y) / 2 ---- first eqn
z + x = 2w
x-w = w-z
x-w = w- (x+y)/2
x-w = 1/2(w-x) + 1/2(w-y)
3/2(x-w) = 1/2(w-y)
(x-w) / (w-y) = 1/3
