trouble with so as to

I have surf through many forums and came across many comments about "so as to" myth. It is still a myth for me :)
Some experts claim the Idiom "So X as to Y" is correct, some totally disagree with them.


Could you tell your opinions and comments...

Can you help us with the links that refer to the posts written by experts so that we understand what actually is bothering you and gain some additional knowledge about the idiom.

I am almost positive "so as to" appears in non-SC verbal parts of the OG.

'So as to' is incorrect as per GMAT. 'So X as to Y' is correct.
