Look at the sentence. It is a case of oranges and apples(very common comparison error)
That leaves us with option D and E

Public is singular

So E(its)

Hope this helps

I would go with E too

We are comparing Public's appetite with public's interest.. two nouns.

It just seems like that we are comparing clauses.. but actually we are just comparing two nouns..

A) like nonfiction books
Public's appetite IS incorrectly COMPARED WITH nonfiction books

B) as nonfiction books
comparison is b/n two nouns so use of as is incorrect

C) as its interest in nonfiction books
same error

D) like their interest in nonfiction books
pronoun antecedent error( public is singular)

E) like its interest in nonfiction books
correct

OA is E
