The block of wood is a cube
Edge =2 inches
The cube has 6 square sides with an edge of 2 inches.
Edge = Length and breadth of 1 square sides
Area of 1 square side = 2*2 = 4 inches

Total surface area for all the 6 square sides = 4*6 = 24 $$Answer\ is\ Option\ E$$
