I am a working professional planning to appear for GMAT in June i.e. 3 months from now.

I am targeting 700+. I am OK in quant but bad in Verbal (esp. RCs). I have not drafted any plan yet. Will be doing so in couple of days. I am planning to go through following books during my prep:

Verbal:

1) OG 12
2) OG Verbal review 2nd Ed
3) Powerscore CR Bible
4) MGMAT SC 3rd ed
5) MGMAT CR and RC 3rd ed
6) Kaplan advanced 2008-2009

is there much difference in Manhattan verbal (SC, RC) 3rd and 4th ed?? If the difference is huge, i will go and buy these books.
Also, shall I add powersore LSAT RC in the above list to overcome my weakness with the topic?

Quant:

I have

1) OG 12
2) OG Quantitatve review 1st Ed

I saw on Amazon that Manhattan's 5 quant books cost more than $17 each.
Are these books really worth this value?. If there are better books, please suggest.

Hi John,

Your books look pretty solid. In Verbal, Powerscore CR bible is the best for CR. MGMAT SC and RC 3rd and 4th edition are not of much difference. I also have only MGMAT SC 3rd edition and I'm pretty satisfied with the content.

I'm not sure of Powerscore LSAT RC. But i generally have a good opinion of Powerscore's books. I'm pretty sure that this book will also be good. For RC, you could also read articles in economist and scientific american. These sites help you in long run.

In Quants, how comfortable are you with basics? If you are not pretty sure where you stand, take a diagnostic test in OG 12 and see where you stand. Based on your analysis of the test, buy appropriate guides. MGMAT guides in my opinion are all good. They actually cover everything that GMAT requires. Kaplan advanced is also a resource for practice.

Remember that when you any one of MGMAT guides, you will get 6 online CAT exams for free. So, it's really worth to buy their guides.
