thanks again for the good wishes.
@redr8er, i used to take 3-4 days to review a test though the ideal time is 1 week. i had made verbal checklist which I used to update whenever i found something new and delete if i found the point to be etched permanently in my memory.
@nskandan, as in my case dreams can become true, even the wildest ones!
i used to prepare for 3-4 hours everyday. I used to attend the knewton class for 2 hours and spend another couple of hours reviewing tests or solving questions. Weekends the time was longer, probably 6-7 hours.
No, i did not resign from job for gmat preparation. But I used to occasionally read the manhattan gmatprep forums and try to solve SCs while in office.
Yes, i am trying for all the exec MBAs from IIMs in India.
@enigmaparanormal, for quant the Manhattan advanced quant book can give you tough questions. The manhattan tests also have separated questions in their CATs depending on difficulty levels so you can solve the ones marked at 700-800 level. Do have a look at the gmat prep questions in manhattan forums. While it is not separated into difficulty level you can gauge the difficulty once you read the question.
From 610 to 760(q49,v44,5.5) - still can't believe it!

Thanks for replying i also got the same -610- score that was way back in Feb'2008. I'm planning to appear for GMAT in 1st week of may'12 with preparing from next month. Just wanted to know whether 5 months of study would suffice my target of 700+ given that i'll start from the scratch. Any special books or strategy that you recommend.
Oh man you score 5.5 in AWA that's phenomenal! you really did the magic in GMAT.
Thanks
Abhinav

Hi Abhinav,
i am not sure if I can comment on 5 months of study for 700+ because i don't have much idea about your background. There are cases where people have improved their scores within a month also.
I would suggest not to take a date till you have started reaching 700+ score consistently. Do read this article:https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2011/09/ ... e-mistakes
The strategy that worked for me was generally practicing lot of gmat questions as per my post. So when i was tired in the evening i would watch some GMAT videos. In the office and while travelling i used to solve SC and CR questions and make a checklist. There are various other strategies so do follow one that suits you.
Yes, AWA also increased from 4.0 in first attempt to 5.5 probably because in the 2nd attempt i gave lot of current business examples.

Hey
Thanks for the tip.
I have just 20 days to go for my GMAT.
So I will do the most of what I can.
Are there any books for Verbal too (for the 700-800 range)?

Thanks for the link it was an eye opener for me.And about the date i was going to take the date first as i mentioned in my post about may 1st week of 2012 but now i'll first get the basics right and then take the date.
About my profile i'm a B.Sc + MBA with 8yrs of work exposure in manufacturing, FMCG and currently banking.
But i believe that the key to 700+ score is practicing a lot of GMAT questions. I'll go through MGMAT basics, OG 12, OG verbal, OG quant, Kaplan 2011 and kaplan 800 could you guide me what other books to go through or anyone of them to drop.
what's your take on Manhattan Advanced maths work book ?

@enigmaparanormal, i would suggest doing some practice tests to strengthen your strategy for gmat. I haven't come across any book for verbal in the 700-800 range but i have read that kaplan has some tough verbal questions.
@abhinav, i did not have access to kaplan books but have heard that it's verbal is tough. I found the Manhattan advanced gmat book to be good, you can have a look once you reach 680+ score. It is good to practice lot of gmat questions but please ensure that you learn from your mistakes. If needed making a checklist will help. If you are methodical then making a error log would help.
You already have a good profile, a decent gmat score should do the job for you.
