720 with low quant...what would you do?

by Somewhere1986 » Fri Jun 14, 2013 12:38 pm
Hi,

I took the GMAT for the first time and got a 44-44 for a 720 (94th percentile). The quant score is in the 63rd percentile. I am an American femle that works in marketing. I was a humanities major and business minor and finished Calc after college, so I have grades to show in quant classes (stats, finance, econ, accounting, etc). I will take another quant course in the fall to boost my transcript. I am getting mixed feedback about my score. I have a strong profile overall with an above average GPA and strong leadership and work experience, but this keeps coming up as a weakness when I get my profiled reviewed. I also keep hearing that I am competing against other marketers and nontraditional applicants, specifically other American females (aka not quant focused bankers). Is this score really terribly low given my demographic and will it really raise doubts about my abilities? If you were in my shoes and seeking general management/marketing path, would you retake? i am applyimg for top 10 schools.
