Every painting hanging in the Hoular Gallery is by a French painter. No painting in the Hoular Gallery is by a Vorticist. Only Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.

If the information above is true, which of the following must also be true?
(A) No French painters are Vorticists.
(B) All Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(C) Some French painters do not use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(D) No French painters use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(E) All French painters who use acrylics use acrylic monochromes in their works.

IMO C

(A) No French painters are Vorticists.

Not mentioned in the information. The information given talks about only 1 french painter who is not a Vorticist. Hence we cannot generalize this fact.

(B) All Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.

The information says that only Vorticists use acrylic monochromes. Now among the Vorticist group we don't know if all vorticist use acrylic monochromes. Probably 1 or 2 don't use. Since no such information is given we cannot generalize the fact.

(C) Some French painters do not use acrylic monochromes in their works.

The information given talks about 1 french painter who doesn't use acrylic monochromes. So we can conclude that some French painters do not use AM.

(D) No French painters use acrylic monochromes in their works.

Like I said before, the information talks about only 1 French painter, hence you cannot generalize this fact.

(E) All French painters who use acrylics use acrylic monochromes in their
works.

French painters who use acrylics are not mentioned.

imo:C

A) No French painters are Vorticists.
Too extreme-stimulus talks about only paintings of hoular gallery

(B) All Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.
Again extreme-Only Vorticists doesnt mean all Vorticists use AM.

(C) Some French painters do not use acrylic monochromes in their works.
Acc to the diagram attached. some FP do not use acrylic monochromes.
Also the stimulus doesnt say french painters cannot be Vorticists, only the french painters of hoular gallery are not vorticists.

(D) No French painters use acrylic monochromes in their works.
Extreme- as only french painters of hoular gallery is talked about

(E) All French painters who use acrylics use acrylic monochromes in their works.
Not supported by the stimulus.

i hope this helps.

ven diagram attached.

Can anyone explain me what this line implies ?

Only Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.

I will assume that nobody else in this world would use "acrylic monochromes in their works" except Vorticists. Thats means D can be answer.

It's something like : Only you use a pen to write, does not necessarily mean the pen is not available to others for writing... some may choose not to write with a pen and use a pencil instead and some may choose to write with a pen. So that's what is stated in option C.

Hope this helps.

Well I feel C is the answer. I guess I'm right. If some expert could throw light on the reasoning it would be a big help.
